Coming off, what many touted their worst performance this season, the Senators will once again attempt to gain some momentum tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. A small rivalry has built up over the past 2 years after the Senators, lead by Martin Havlat, beat the then defending Stanley Cup Champions in 5 games.
This is the first time since Jacques Martin’s inaugural season that the Sens have dropped 6 in a row. With such a lowly performance on Saturday afternoon, we’re all left wondering if they even know just how bad they’re playing. Coach John Paddock is holding the whole team accountable for the recent drop in Martin Gerber’s play and has called out his 2nd and 3rd lines to start chipping in offensively.
A few game notes for tonight:
- Mike Fisher has not scored in 12 games
- Daniel Alfredsson, Joe Corvo and Fisher all missed practice but will play tonight. They are all suffering from various nagging injuries
- Ray Emery will get the start. If he wins, we should expect to see him in net tomorrow night as well
- The Sens are 3-5-2 in their past 10 games…
The Sens expected lineup for tonight:
Heatley – Spezza – Robitaille
Foligno – Fisher – Alfredsson
Vermette – Kelly – Neil
Donovan – McAmmond – McGrattan
Meszaros – Phillips
Redden – Corvo
