6 down 76 to go

As if to do the complete opposite of last year, the Senators are off to a lightning pace.

What’s different about the Sens teams of past, is the how they are finding ways to win games.  They have yet to score 5 goals in a game and all of their wins have been by 2 goals or less.  The players are showing that Bryan Murray’s (and John Paddock’s) blue collared style approach not only leads to a different brand of hockey for the the fans but also proves to be quite rewarding to the players.

Hopefully last night’s game was a lesson to all the players.  Everyone, except for the regular work horses like Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Chris Kelly seemed to have concrete in their skates and generally appeared lifeless in front of their home crowd.  It’s “should win” games like this that make all the difference down the road when very often the difference between home ice advantage during the playoffs and home ice advantage for the 1st round.

Here’s hoping for a big bounce back game on Saturday against a tough New York Rangers team.
